\## Executive Summary

Recent research has introduced an innovative framework named LAW, which integrates language reasoning, action generation, and world modeling to enhance long-horizon manipulation tasks. This development is significant for industries that rely on robots or automated systems to perform complex tasks over extended periods, such as manufacturing, logistics, and service automation.

The LAW framework operates by predicting actions and future states of the environment, which is essential for effective planning and execution. It employs a hybrid vision-language model to identify and plan subtasks, which involves breaking down a larger task into manageable components. This approach allows the system to evaluate the effectiveness of actions taken and adjust its strategy as needed based on real-time feedback. Such adaptability could improve operational efficiency in settings where precise execution and ongoing assessment are crucial.

Central to the success of the LAW framework is its Mixture-of-Transformer Experts model. This model effectively combines different types of computations for video and action modeling, enabling the system to better understand and react to visual inputs. Additionally, the dual-stream hierarchical visual memory maintains context over time, ensuring that the system remembers past actions and their outcomes, which is vital for making informed decisions about future actions.

The research demonstrates that LAW achieves an impressive average success rate of 94.21% across 50 RoboTwin tasks, a benchmark for assessing robotic performance in simulated environments. Notably, when the backbone of the world-action model was replaced with OpenWAM-$alpha$, the success rate increased to 95.56%. This marks a new state-of-the-art performance for the RoboTwin tasks. Furthermore, LAW's performance is noteworthy considering it operates with just 2 billion parameters, outperforming other advanced models like Embodied-R1.5 and GPT-5.5 High.

In practical applications, LAW has also been tested on three long-horizon real-robot tasks, yielding an average success rate of 65%. This is a significant improvement compared to other models, which achieved much lower success rates of 28.33% and 25%. The results indicate that LAW could be particularly effective in scenarios where robots must complete tasks that require sustained attention and adaptability over time.

This research not only pushes the boundaries of robotic capabilities but also opens the door for potential applications in various sectors where automation can enhance productivity and safety. By improving how robots understand and interact with their environments, businesses may benefit from more reliable and efficient automation solutions.

\## Academic Abstract

World-action models jointly predict actions and future world states, but long-horizon manipulation further requires language reasoning to plan subtask objectives, assess execution progress, and guide action selection. We present LAW, a closed-loop VLM--WAM framework that unifies language reasoning, action generation, and world modeling through semantic subtask progress. Within the LAW agent, a hybrid-expert vision-language model plans the remaining subtasks, estimates the values of and fuses actions proposed by a world-action model, and asynchronously assesses execution status to support continued execution and subtask transitions. Within the world-action model, Mixture-of-Transformer Experts integrates modality-specific and shared computation for joint video--action modeling. Dual-stream hierarchical visual memory maintains temporal context for both models, while subtask-local value learning aligns action evaluation with semantic objectives and preserves supervision from successful prefixes of failed trajectories. LAW achieves 94.21% average success across 50 RoboTwin tasks. Replacing the WAM backbone with OpenWAM-$alpha$ further raises the average success rate to 95.56%, establishing a new open-source state of the art on RoboTwin. Despite having only 2B parameters, our VLM also outperforms variants using Embodied-R1.5 and GPT-5.5 High. On three long-horizon real-robot tasks, LAW achieves 65% average success, compared with 28.33% for $pi_{0.5}$ and 25% for Fast-WAM.
