    Frictionless text-to-speech publishing

    About BeyondWords

Synthetic speech is transforming the way we engage online. And we believe its benefits should be available to everyone.

That’s why we’ve built an AI voice platform that empowers digital writers and teams to publish all their content in engaging audio — without undue effort or expense.

Together, we can build an audio internet, where text isn’t just readable, but hearable too. An internet that works harder for content creators and consumers alike.

The BeyondWords team, which includes engineers and computational linguists from Google, Apple, and the Edinburgh Centre for Speech Technology Research, continually develops new text-to-speech tools and technologies, pushing the limits of what publishers can achieve.

Our work in voice cloning, supported by the likes of Audible and Innovate UK, provides much-needed diversification in the world of synthetic speech, improving results for creators and experiences for listeners. It is also helping to ensure a transparent and sustainable future for this growing industry.

We believe that text-to-speech should pose an opportunity, not a threat, to voice actors. That’s why we’re dedicated to building an open voice infrastructure, where publishers can find or commission the ideal voice for any project, and the speaker behind it is fairly compensated.

BeyondWords was founded in 2017 by Patrick O’Flaherty and James MacLeod, originally under the name of SpeechKit. Used by over 100 publishers worldwide, including The Japan Times, Schibsted, and Media24, it is now the leading provider of text-to-speech services in the news media sector. Our platform is also used by content marketers, writers, and communications teams.
